Homeopathy FAQ
I am not a doctor, or a licensed medical professional, and do not diagnose or treat any particular diagnosed condition.
As a certified professional homeopath, I recommend homeopathic remedies for the combination of symptoms that you have.
You may have symptoms that occur in more than one system of the body, are on the mental and physical plane, occur daily, or only occasionally.
In my work with you, I am interested in the underlying pattern and development of your symptoms. Identifying the root of the whole picture will allow me to identify a remedy, or series of remedies, that will support your body to restore health.
The human body does very predictable things in response to trauma, disturbance, infection, and dis-ease. It inflames, it bleeds, it swells, it suppurates, it degenerates, it numbs, etc… I have worked with all of these symptoms.
I may not have seen a combination or expression exactly like you have. And that's a good thing!
Because the more I can individualize your case, the more accurately I can identify a remedy that matches your unique set of symptoms.
In conventional approaches, the goal is to identify someone's symptom set in a way that can fit it into a pre-determined box- then, a standardized course of treatment can be recommended.
Strange, unusual, and uncommon symptoms and experiences are not well treated, because they fall outside of those standard protocols.
In homeopathy, the strange, uncommon, and unusual are what I'm looking for. If I can understand why YOUR itching is different than my last patient's itching, than I can better identify that individual remedy that will leverage the homeopathic principle of like cures like.
If you have burning itching, I want to find a remedy that has burning itching- not give you the remedy I gave my last patient, who had painful itching. Even though both of you were recommended the same steroid at the dermatologist office.
Your progress depends on you, and your body's response to the remedy. Most people notice a response within the first week of taking their remedy. How long you've had your symptoms, and how serious they are will be a factor. We'll talk about what you can expect at the end of your initial consultation.
It is not uncommon to try a couple of different remedies before finding the one that serves for the long-haul. Because homeopathy is not a 'one size fits all' modality, the progression of treatment is as unique as each person.
I check in with all patients 1-2 weeks after starting a new remedy. This is usually a 15-20 minute conversation (no charge). A quick check in allows me to gauge your initial response to the remedy and recommend any necessary adjustments. At that time, we'll schedule a full follow-up, usually within three-four weeks.
On-going follow-ups depend on you, your symptoms, and your response to the remedies. It's important to me that patients can continue their care as long as needed, so I provide free call-in hours three days a week for quick check-ins and questions. This can allow us to space out follow-ups a bit further, usually about once a month.
In general, plan on one-month of treatment, for every one-year you have had your symptoms.
More recently symptoms typically improve much faster and may only require 1-2 consults.
Definitely. Homeopathic prescribing is based on your experience of your symptoms. As long as you can talk to me- on the phone, over video- I can take your case.
Yes. From the womb through adolescence, children and teens respond very well to homeopathy. I work with each family to find a format that works for everyone. We can meet together- caregivers and child(ren), or if the patient is old enough to have some one-on-one time with me, I can offer a split appointment, for both individual and family. We'll work together to find an approach that works for everyone.
Remedies may be ordered from FDA regulated pharmacies in the United States, such as Hahnemann Labs in California, or OHM Pharmacy in Texas. Occasionally I select remedies that are only available in Europe, and will use high quality pharmacies there, such as Helios or Ainsworth.
When starting a new remedy, I recommend taking a break from other modalities until I can assess your response to the remedy. Once it is clear how the remedy is affecting your symptoms, you can often begin your other therapies again.
Homeopathic treatment is individualized, and that goes for 'restrictions' as well. If you are NOT a coffee drinker, then I do not recommend starting coffee while taking a remedy. If you are a regular coffee drinker, there is no reason to stop. Same with mint.
Some people are quite sensitive and find that strong smells and stimulants will disrupt their response to a remedy (it affects the nervous system). The same is true for stressful events, traumas, and travel. Other people find they tolerate all of these things, with no disruption to their treatment.
